Historical Information

Introduced in 1932, present design adopted 15 March 1973. the flag is very similar to that of the Wahabi sect, in use since 1901. The green is the colour of Islam. The inscription white tulth script reads, 'There is no God but Allah and Muhammad is the Prophet of Allah', the Muslim Statement of Faith. the sword is a symbol of justice.
